This brief tutorial will demonstrate how to access the Wall Street Journal using two databases. First, open an internet browser and go to the PSU Libraries home page. Click the "Databases" tab located in the central blue box. To access the first database I'll be showing you, click on the letter "A". From this list, click on "ABI/INFORM Complete". Once you click this, a new page will open and then you will be directed to the ABI/INFORM Complete home page. To access the Wall Street Journal, click the "Publications" link located under the title heading. From the alphabetical list, click "W", then click on the second result called "Wall Street Journal, Eastern edition" to access it in its entirety as it was published in print in the United States. If you're looking for the online version, click "Wall Street Journal ". From this Publication Information page, you can either click "View most recent issue" to browse, or you can type in your topic of research in the Search box at the bottom of the page. Let's try a search. "College education". Notice, typing in a word or phrase can yield thousands of results. Using quotation marks at the beginning and end of your search phrase narrows search results to only results that include the phrase exactly as you typed it. Again, ABI/INFORM Complete is a great tool if you have a specific article or topic in mind; however, Factiva, the next database I'll show you, is a better resource to use when you don't have a specific topic and you just want to browse. In a new window, go to the PSU Libraries home page again. Click the "Databases" tab and then select "F". From the list, click "Factiva ". Again, a new page will open and you will be directed to the Factiva home page. To browse the current issue's articles, click "View All" located under the Wall Street Journal heading. If you want to browse past issues, click the "News Pages" tab located at the top of the page. From the top dropdown box, select "United States". From this page, you can browse past issues dating back two weeks.

If you want articles older than two weeks, you will need to use ABI/INFORM Complete. You can also search in Factiva. From the home page, type a word or phrase in the Search box. then click "Options" and select "The Wall Street Journal" in the Source dropdown box.
