We are here the workshop of in scopus we are very excited about this new technology and to implement it in Mexico City it's one thing to to read about a neuronal firing but it's a whole different thing to actually look in urine and see it working st. flashing and I think that's very exciting by itself we just saw it working in a freely moving animal and it's fantastic so good cells it's really inspiring the opportunity to be able to see what neurons in any brain region are doing in a freely behaving animal was really unprecedented for us so that's why we decided to invest in the in scopic system we were very interested in the ability to look in real time at large populations I was really excited from from the start to understand the system and to see it work hands who actually see it working it's a whole different thing it's beautiful definitely i was hoping to do the surgery demos that was probably the most valuable part of all this just seeing somebody who's gone through and done the months and months of troubleshooting that I don't want to do and seeing how to actually make everything run smoothly and it was surprisingly simple much simpler than I thought it would be which makes me feel very reassured the last two days I think have been most helpful in giving me a real beginning to end meaningful view of how you start this how you make the process work designing your experiments all the way through through doing the surgeries and really implementing experiments the introduction to data analysis workflow for me yesterday was really helpful that's the aspect of the system that i would say I'm least comfortable with at this point so that was invaluable and now I think I have an idea of where to start and so I'll even know like what questions I have to ask I'm also really excited today to see the setup for imaging in the freely behaving animal but once you see the engineers and the scientists here doing it and explaining it and actually getting it to work it's very motivating.

When I come back to my lab I'll feel much more confident in tackling my project I feel like I was originally expecting a lot more troubleshooting time but I think once i go back to lab after running my virus dilution study and I can jump right in it's been great to visit the headquarters and and me meet the people I feel like this a community right so i can ask for anything that any trouble that I get and I would get a solution from you from the disc optics community so I'm very happy I belong to this community I I think I did the right investment you.
