Celebrating Purim

The Jewish holiday poram begins tomorrow and joining me in studio now is Mari roses in ski. I love this I absolutely love this so for those at home who are not familiar with this Jewish Jewish celebration. Let's educate them let's educate me let's educate everybody watching okay. I love your storytelling by the way too during break Marjorie was explaining to me the story with these little masks so let's do this for our viewers. Okay very simple. Yes okay. Simple simple purchase centuries ago there was a king. Ashe Varys there's a king and he had a wife Vashti and um this man was a party party. King threw lavish parties for the village for people everybody and wanted his queen to dance and entertain and she said absolutely not no so he had her executed. He had her executed so she passes away. She passes away. She's he's looking for a new queen. This is the new queen the new Queen Esther Esther and she's Jewish but she doesn't reveal really her background and his prime minister doesn't like that she's Jewish or her. Prime Minister had a run-in with her cousin. Mordecai Jewish she's Jewish and mortal. I refuse to bow to him and so he said to the King King you know what we need to banish these Jewish people and so she's sitting off to the side he said the Prime Minister says that to the king - the king and no he wanted to kill all the Jewish people yes he want to kill all the Jewish people and he picked a day and he actually picked Lots which is poram picked Lots and that day was the 14th of Adar actually this month adar right and Esther found out about it and told the King and he was horrified and said nope instead of killing all the Jews let's kill Haman and the plot was foiled Haman was the Prime Minister yes okay and so he actually hung at the gallows that was meant to be for more and so today it's a very joyous holiday that we celebrate there's customs dressed in costume yes and so it kicks off tomorrow and take me through the day how the celebration begins and how long it lasts and when it ends ok so it lasts for a day and we read the story of Esther and every time we have several traditions that we observe you just gave you the synopsis we do we read the story of Esther and every time Haman's name is mentioned we make noise and we boo and oh yeah ok food right is a big part of it we give gifts of food to friends and family this is called the mission off my note and we make traditional cookies last year we demonstrated how to make these hamantaschen with traditional filling but this year you can put anything in here.

I know they're really yummy. But you can put anything in here you have in here ok chocolate chip that's peanut butter and chocolate chip this one and this is Girl Scout cookies Samoas. We broke them up and put them in the ears. Love it yes. And then here's a raspberry and chocolate for the gourmet cookie lover and my daughter made pizza hamantaschen and those look so savory so you could really make these traditionals really prune and jelly but we got created this year but also to matching the shape. The shape loves it's a triangular shape the shape of Haman's hat. Yeah did you talk about what your daughter made. Because it's unusual the pizza will you just put in some marinara sauce and some of it. She's on time ladies. Thank you and dress in costume.
